ArkDes is the first venue for the exhibition, which will then go on tour in Sweden and abroad.
Press meeting: Monday 4 February at 10 am. Exercisplan 4, Skeppsholmen. Stockholm. Sweden.
RSVP to maria.ostman@arkdes.se by 29 January at the latest.
Ung Svensk Form/Young Swedish Design is a window to the future and a platform for young designers to showcase their ideas. The exhibition gives an insight into what is happening on the design scene in Sweden today and is the result of a juried competition with the same name that attracts several hundred applicants annually.
Participating in the press meeting:
Kieran Long, Director of ArkDes, Mats Widbom, CEO of Svensk Form, Karin Wiberg, project manager for Young Swedish Design, Halla Sigurdardóttir, exhibition coordinator as well as several designers from the exhibition.
“Young Swedish Design 2019 highlights the work of young designers who have chosen to express themselves in their own unique language and who often take contemporary issues as their point of departure, whether it is to attack conventions, address the dissolution of the fashion industry or the changing landscape in the time of global warming,” says Mats Widbom, CEO of Svensk Form and member of the jury.
“This year’s exhibition is one of the most exciting yet. The range of projects and objects is diverse and of very high quality, and the conceptual clarity and quality of making on display is extraordinary. It shows a wellspring of talent of which Sweden should be proud”, says Kieran Long, Director of ArkDes and member of the jury.
At ArkDes this year, Ung Svensk Form will be shown in our new exhibition space, which we call Boxen. Boxen is itself a beautiful and radical work by the exciting young Stockholm-based architecture practice Dehlin Brattgård. The exhibition is designed by Erik Olovsson through Studio EO. Graphic design of the exhibition is made by Studio Reko. And the Ung Svensk Form 2019 exhibition catalogue is designed by Karin Brodén.
Ung Svensk Form/Young Swedish Design 2019 is a co-production between ArkDes and Svensk Form, with support from IKEA and the City of Malmö.

ABOUT ARKDES, THE SWEDISH CENTRE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
ArkDes is Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design. It is a museum, a study centre and an arena for debate and discussion about the future of architecture, design and citizenship.
Our mission is to increase knowledge of and cultivate debate about how architecture and design affect our lives as citizens.Sweden is in the middle of an unprecedented building boom, one that will define its towns and cities for decades to come. The work of ArkDes aims to influence this change through debate, exhibitions, campaigns and research relating to Swedish and international architecture and design. We aim to put the citizens at the centre of the debate and look at the world through their eyes.
